Clean storefront with clean sidewalks and clean exterior

5 Reasons to Let the Pros Power Wash Your Business.

Many folks go outside to enjoy the newfound warmth of Spring- including shoppers and commuters. Joggers or Moms with strollers might enjoy the fragrance of dogwoods in bloom while meandering through a commercial district. Coffee-in-hand they glance at your business.   Does your curb appeal measure up?  With the bluebirds of early Spring chirping, now is the ideal time to assess the condition of your outside surfaces.  Here are 5 reasons to let the pros power wash your business.

1 -Power Wash to Improve the Physical Image of Your Business.

Lunch break power-walkers, power-broker café meetings, and electric scooter commuters…if you run a brick and mortar business then it’s likely that one of your goals is to entice foot traffic.  And one of the best ways to do that is to put your best foot forward with a clean exterior.

Your business is exposed to the elements year round.  As such, it’s getting pummeled on the daily with dirt, smoke, & pollutants from car exhaust.  Then there’s moss growth, tree droppings, and bird droppings.  Manmade threats include old Buick oil spills, rubber skid marks, and graffiti messages from degenerates. The list of potential eye-sores can be lengthy. Passersby are subconsciously affected by this.  They’re making snap-judgements within seconds on whether or not they’d like to venture inside of your business, so make that first impression count.

2 –Pressure Washing isn’t Power Washing.

Sure, you could DIY some of this.  But before you run off to thumb that garden hose, know that there is a difference between pressure washing and power washing.  You’ve likely used a pressure washer at home.  It uses a high-pressure water blast, a similar concept to power washing.  Only the pressure isn’t nearly as strong and it doesn’t use heated water.

Hot water cleans much more efficiently. Commercial pressure washing can involve up to 3,500 pounds of pressure per square inch and reach water temps of up to 311 degrees Fahrenheit. A power washer uses a high-pressure stream of hot water to blast away dirt and contaminants. The one-two punch of high pressure and high temperatures make it the most effective attack at removing all of those stubborn, stuck-on messes.  This includes graffiti from concrete, weeds, and oil spills.  The high heat also removes chewing gum from sidewalks. It wipes away tough, protein-packed biohazard messes like sunbaked fecal matter. Eww! (That’s life in the big city).

Commercial Power Washing pros also utilize surface scrubbing machines in order to agitate dirt from textured surfaces.  Degreaser is used to emulsify heavy oils stains.  There are a number of tools in a commercial cleaning pros’ bag.  Attempting to duplicate these efforts with a trip to Home Depot can quickly become costly and time-consuming.

3- The Elements Can Cause Permanent Surface Damage.

Power washing clears away contaminants and prevents these things from causing irreparable damage.  Mold growth can gain a foothold during wet seasons, and if left to persist it can actually eat away at exterior paint.

Excessive moisture in shaded areas, paired with a buildup of dirt can create an ideal habitat for moss and mildew to thrive.  Overtime these things can permanently stain siding, concrete, patios and more.

Decaying organic matter can be acidic in nature.  Overtime it can degrade some weather-proofing sealers.  And with little to no protective sealer, Sun exposure can damage wood fibers.  This renders the wood less resilient.  Your fencing and deck is then prone to becoming stained, cracked or warped.

4 – Power Washing is Proper Maintenance.

Remember the old adage that cleaning is always cheaper than replacing. A little preventative maintenance can go a long way toward protecting your investments in quality materials and furnishings.  This includes flooring, decking, paint, furniture and more.  Power washing on a routine basis will prolong the life of these materials and keep them looking good for years to come.
